I did not put my thoughts about Cody's book. So I'll add a couple of lines. As everyone already knows, he is number one in my book.
One of the major pleasures of the book is understanding where everything goes. Plain and simple. He lays it out for you and the only think you have to do, is copy what you see. I like that. The fact that he his brilliant in 3D drawings makes it an even bigger asset.
The book does more than just show you where to drill and screw the parts together. It gives you every aspect of every component needed to achieve your goal.
Now, if that isn't dishing it out on a silver platter than I don't know what is.
He's meticulous in every detail so you don't miss a thing. So if you are a beginner and what to try your hand at building a stabilizer then look no further - Cody's book will get you up and running.
I had been away from this site for awhile becasue I had been fortunate enough to get sponsored by Glidecam for use in our US TV productions for some major networks. But had returned because we are modifying our V 20 to suit our production needs.
Before I got the Glidecamc though I had purchased Cody's book to get an idea on how these rigs function. Luckily due to my shows I have acess to top notch machinist & their equipment etc. who have made for our productions some of the finest and very unique in car camera mounts for our lipstick cameras, again sponsore by Viosport ( Selfish Plug I hope Charles doesn't mind.) Cody's book was very easy to read & understand. Unfortuantely for me I never got to construct a rig from his plans due to time constraints & then the Glidecam deal presented itself. But Cody was & continues to be right there for advice & from my experience the best tech support person in any industry & he's a one man show.
Great set of plans & great support. Now I had just purchsed Charles book on modifying our Glidecam rig, as I am getting ready to back mount it & have started on making a junction box for our AB batts to power up the camera & monitors + accessories, as well as a stand that is dual purpose that can also be use on our cart just like the expensive Steadi Rig transport carts are. I will have a review after I get Charles book & follow some of his plans. Mahalo from Hawaii.
