Fantastic review Charles. It's great to see smaller cameras being used in these types of reviews. From the sound of it, you might nearly be purchasing the rig pretty soon. Great documentation as well. You should probably do reviews as a side thing, you know. Simon Wilks

VERY interesting and I'm interested in seeing clip, etc. Like Charles, the one thing that put me since seeing the first pics of the Flyer is the thinness of the post. I know it bears light cameras and cost is involved, but I like something with some meat to it. However, Garrett can be proud of it and Tiffen of him.

Charles, incredible review! I really loved that you used a smaller DV cam. It's good to know it preforms well with that kind of rig, considering my camcorder with the good ol' 5 hour battery and wide angle weighs around 2 pounds Yeah, but very well done. Your photos are also quite good, and I'm glad to finally see a big pic of the person who's been so influential to my rig building and who runs this incredible forum. -Tom

Just to satisfy my curiousity--and maybe others--did you rent the rig for the review? If so, what was the cost?

It was given to a friend of mine to test. He said it cost something like 7,369.09 USD. Remember this is Sweden so it would definately be cheaper in the US. I think B&H has for around 6500 USD Charles King

Interesting price. If I wasn't up to my fanny in nuts and bodts, I might think about it. But it is more challenging to make your own.

Hi Charles: Fanastic review! I'm looking forward to what ever you have to tell us about the Flyer. Yes, it is tempting, but I really don't think I have a need for most of the Flyer package. In fact, if it were possible, I'd probably only want the arm, which brings up another question: Does Tiffen sell components seperately? If not, how do so many of the older parts show up on the market? Just guys breaking up their systems as they upgrade? Thanks! Ben

I don't think they do but you could always ask. Many of the old parts are still in circulation even though most have been discontinued. Those old time operators and at times, new alike upgrade gratually each or at times whole parts. It's part of the recycle game. You got to remember these things cost so most operators tend to stick to old parts until the need to upgrade presents itself. Mix matching is very popular and helps to maintain some sort of flavor to the rig. Charles King
