They could try making it funnier though Agreed, lots of steadicam. The show has been on a couple of weeks now in my country, as a matter of fact it was on tv half an hour ago. Don't know who's operating here, but it looks very nice!

it's about a group of young doctor/interns working within a hospital..sorta ..kinda....like ER without the serious overtones, more humor about the relationships between characters, if anyone who has seen it, please fill in the blanks if I left any.

Hi there, just fell across this forum--I'm that guy behind the camera on "Scrubs"! Thanks so much for the kind words, folks.
As the A camera/Steadicam operator, we offer the directors full-time access to the Steadicam, which is my preferred way of working (rather than a pay-as-used setup, where production limits the number of times the rig can be pulled out during a given episode). Thus I can make the call when a shot should go on dolly or Steadicam. Sometimes the constrictions of the set make more sense to put the rig up, even though the shot itself is not obviously a Steadicam move.
We have a really great time making the show, it's a very lighthearted set and my biggest challenge is not to blow too many takes from laughing too hard!
I'd be glad to answer any questions if anyone has 'em--keep watching, we need the ratings!

I'd have to agree that scrubs is one of the funniest shows on right now. It is the first show that has been truly worthy of its "Friends" leadin. As far as the steadicam, i didn't even notice. I hink that is a sign of a well directed and executed shot: when the viewer pays more attention to the situation and characters than to the shot. I am glad that Scrubs has made it to its second seaseon, and hope that it continues to prosper.

HI CN,
I am going around to all members and letting them know that we are currently in the planning of a meeting (get-together for all members of this site).
When you open the forum, click on links, 'Let us know about it', 'What a tight family we have...' and read it. It is quite lengthy. You will see a list of members that have already committed to this get-together. I realize there are only a few, but more will reply as time passes.
And then, we have started another new forum, ‘Members Reunion Group’. It is especially designed for questions and information as things are updated throughout the months ahead.
I hope that I can somehow persuade you to join us? We look forward to seeing all members at this gathering.
As we are not yet sure as to when this meeting will take place, there have been requests for July 2004 or June 2005 and hopefully in Montreal Canada (time and place still up in the air, of course)
Visit the forum and see what it is all about. It is going to be great fun, and I'm sure some members will bring their rigs.
It would be appreciated by you responding to a, 'yes', ‘possibly', or simply ,'not interested', and I will post if along side your user name on the forum as I update it frequently.
Just because you enter a, 'yes' does not mean that you have commited yourself. But it does give everyone else an idea that you are interested and would like to attend.
Thank you for your time.
Tim

I know also that you've operated for The West Wing, and that has always had some of the best Steadicam work on TV. Scrubs does stand out though, as a very slick operation. There are so many long tracking shots, and it always looks fantastic!

Argh! I wanted to say "I know" the operator from Scrubs! We've talk before on DVinfo.net, so "I know" him. Hi Charles P.! Aside from the really good steadicam work, the show itself is really good! I like it!

Sweet! Love Scrubs! You'll be happy to know that we have been a Nielson household 3 different times and Scrubs always gets counted in our log or recorder box. It's funny the type of stuff you start to pay attention to in TV and film once you know more about the people who make it happen from a technical standpoint. Keep up the good work! My wife will have to endure my "Hey, that guy is on this forum that I read..." outbursts for a while. She loves the show too - it's one of few that we watch together. How tough is it to keep up with the somewhat spastic moves of Zack B as you're operating? I would have nightmares about trying to film someone like he or Jim Carey with a steadicam up close.
