Upgrade from V-25 vest to Gold Vest
« on: February 05, 2010, 09:20:25 AM »

Well, after talking with Pascale and having challenges (and pain) trying to tighten the bottom strap on the vest as tight as possible I think its time to trade up. The good folks at Glidecam are helping me investigate a solution to my problems by exploring ways to upgrade my system (v-25 / X45) to accommodate a Gold vest. It seems to solve the tightening issues very nicely. I really appreciate the way Dave and Tom go the extra mile for their customers.

I requested a quote for an X-22 sled, and was told they only sell packages.  I guess their customer service is on a per-customer basis...

Actually I did just spend around $10,000 buying the V-25/X-45 system. I am having to purchase the Gold Vest separately. If you go to their website you will see that the vest is available as a individual purchase.  Become a customer and you to will appreciate their helpful attitude.

Hehe I should have mentioned that I am a customer, I ended up buying a Glidecam X-10 and I'm very happy with it, I just wish they would sell their products individually to existing customers, they HAD to assume people would want the X-22 sled, but the X-10 arm.

The X-22 sled is totally different from their Glidecam HD line of sleds, my only gripe is that they could not part with one on an individual basis.  I'm ordering a Pilot sled from B&H Photo this summer hopefully.

What price did you get for the gold vest? Btw, David is a very nice individual. Friendly. I bought my titanium socket block from them for an amazing price.

Charles -That hasnt been resolved yet since  we need to determine whether its feasible  (as a cost savings to me) to replace the expensive universal  titanium socket block assembly on the Gold vest  with the Glidecam U block connector assembly so it can work with my V-25 arm.

Tom - I looked into getting the Flyer LE (after also being an X-10 owner as well) but I wanted a J box with a variety of wiring for video and power AND was HD capable. When I found out that the Flyer LE that fit this description in a very limited was way over $12,000 , I decided to stick with Glidecam and get the V-25 / X-45 rig. I havent been disappointed (actually extremely happy!).
