Are these words not related? Well, everyone's got an opinion. Read the article I wrote; Click on the name of title:  SteadIcam vs. SteadYcam

A book version is also available to those who want a hard copy.

Thanks a lot for doing this, it's been a really insightful read at work today.

I'm really really happy with my Glidecam X-10 arm, I keep hearing horror stories about arms, but this one is a pure dream.  It's too bad this is my only experience with a stabilizer arm other than watching a pro use his 3A.  When he is free in a month or so I might have him try it on and let me know what he thinks of it.

The real bottleneck to my setup is the Glidecam 2000 Pro I'm using, which I bought off Craigslist for $300.  It has the horrible "unscrew-to-adjust" method of moving the plate, but a quick release took half of the pain away, as I only need to unscrew to adjust side-to-side tilt now.

Nice and interesting read, you must have put a lot of time into it Smiley
Charles, do you have any Idea if there ever have been, or will be a steadicam workshop in Sweden somewhere? What would be the closest place to go if not Sweden?

Thanks Björn. It took some time but it is always worth the effort to my members.  Hoffman in Göteborg usually announces workshop and I think they may have one starting soon. I'm not sure. See their website: http://www.hofmann.se/workshop/index.htm

Man... I need to get a job Smiley but I guess that's the kind of money you need to put into one of these workshops. Have anyone went to one who can tell me what it was like?

I went to a Glidecam one in Amsterdam, with Steadicam Elite Job has my instructor, who has worked with many steadicam and non-steadicam systems. See this thread for my review of the workshop, video clips and lots of pics:

i've read this 2ce already and going for a third after i shoot this weekend's anime/cosplay convention...trying for flying pix to post...Steadicam vs Steadycam opened up some floodgates for me...it was a GREAT precursor for the Steadicam Operators' Handbook [highly recommended reading for ANYONE remotely interested in this noble (martial) art]...
