titanium EFP post with homemade base for sale
« on: August 01, 2009, 02:47:04 PM »

After an upgrade I'm selling my good old titanium EFP sled. It's an original Cinema Products post with a homebuilt base. I used the system for 2 years until I exchanged it for a carbon fibre post recently.

When I bought it, the post came with a very slight ding about 5 cm below the top. It was probably caused by hitting the safety pin of the docking bracket. It's very small and probably can not even be seen in the picture. However I reinforced that area with a piece of aluminum tube I press fitted and glued inside the main post to be 100 percent sure in case of a hairline crack. The gimbal still slides perfectly over that area.

I also reinforced the inner post. The original inner post of the EFP had a slot that made it quite instable if extended too much. That's why I slided a machined aluminum tube inside at the whole length and added a new, toolfree clamp.

The post worked very well, even completely extended and I had great trust in it. The only reason for upgrading was that I wanted a superpost capable system and a more modular wiring (with the cables not soldered right into their plugs). Now the base is empty and you might add plugs to allow for a quick disassembling.

The asking price is 500 USD.

That's right, the base is included with this price. I paid 380 Euro for the post alone when I bought it so I think it's really a good deal.

However, I should point out again that the base is completely homebuilt using my desktop mill and a drill press. Though the brackets do slide on the rods it is not as effortless as if they where cnc machined. I put a lot of work into building the base but I decided to count the material costs only for that reason (raw aluminium, toolfree clamp and anodizing material).

No, the item is still for sale. I'd prefer to sell post and base together, either €350 or USD 500 + shipping.
Would fit together with Eugenio's gimbal to give an almost complete sled  Smiley.
