Glidecam V25 Spring
« on: March 09, 2009, 04:21:06 PM »

Hello all, as you have seen my V25 setup with my A1 and it just to light for the rig and very bouncy because it set to the lowest config of the the arm. Just wondering if i can get a different spring for the V25 arm. What are the spec for a spring to work with 5-15lb. Where to buy. What do you suggest for the best option. Please any info are very much appreciated thank you.

Thanks Charles i though of that too but i try to have a light rig as possible because it heavy and i'm not use to it yet. and i'm looking to do i for an extended of time so the lighter the rig the better for me you know like the pilot or the flyer but then i have the option of flying heavier camera when i'm ready.

Actually Thanh, the heavier the rig the better the the inertia and the better the rig will fly. If I understand you right you are not yet used to the weight but the quicker you start the quicker you can start getting use ti the weight. All rigs handle better when they are at their or almost max weight.

Thankx Charles. I understand about the rig work best when it at it maximum. I have a light camera and i want to stay away from the cage, is that i don't want to put more weight on me as what i'm looking to do it for a long period of time like wedding and i plan on using the rig at all time it most like 6hour a days. It not a good idea if i put the camera on the tripod and then i have to balance again. Asian wedding are a little different from the rest it longer and more than one location. consider the pilot or the flyer it a good choice but i don't want to left out the chance of using heavier camera later on that why i bought the used V25 to prepared for the future. Look like i'm gonna have to use a cage if there spring option are hassle to do. Thank you so much for your input Charles.

The spring option will be a hassle if you intend on going through with it. So i would go with the cage but as always you have the last word.

Thanh,

I post this here because i don't want to mess up your advertisement post..
How much does the Sled weight alone, only the Sled without Camera and 1 IDX batt on it ??

My suggestion is to use a X-10 arm with your current vest and sled when using the Canon A1 on top..
Contact Glidecam and ask if this can be done and what they will charge for a X-10 arm alone. They are very nice people and always willing to help you out..

Just a idea,

Best, Erik
