Hi Charles, I was hoping to bump into you on Sunday, but unfortunately we didn't... I think Dave said that you asked him to say hi. I was too heavily drugged and spaced out, so I'm not sure In case you did; hi back! I haven't seen much of this year's show, so all pictures are more than welcome! I did see the 3D rig. I believe it was a Sachtler rig? That zoom remote - focus remote gimbal is a great find! I'm sure there's a market for that! He should get a patent for that Nice review BTW! I hope to see you at IBC 2010!

Cool review Charles as always !!!
I must say, the Archer2 Sled is indeed a beauty and the trimming posibilities are superb. I have done some trimming on the fly and this was fast and easy to do..

Hi guys. Yes Pascal. The 3d rig setup was a Sachtler rig. The adapters on the 3d setup was something Philippe designed himself. The guy is amazing.
Erik, the Archer 2 setup is fantastic. The sled alone makes it all worthwhile. I am sensing an Archer 2 buy here from you:)

Well Charles, i think i hear James Elias ECHO here hahaha.. Last year he was like 'erik, the LE (gimbal upgrade+payload) is aweome.. i know you will like it.. and indeed i did and i bought one But to be honest, it is plane simple: - no funds.. and more important no work for it Even if i won the statelottery today, i would think twice before buying a big rig. I have 'downgraded' from the LE to a PILOT and will work with that for the next years.. maybe maybe in the future ?

sounds like a solid decision Erik. It is quite expensive and seeing no jobs for it at the moment is not feasible to pay off the dividends. The Pilot is a good good rig and for the price considering what it does, is phenomenal. look at me. I'm getting my own rig together from professional parts to custom built parts. I cannot justify the money for getting a major rig for the work I do. I do not intend on doing 35mm work. Besides. There are only a few here in Sweden, so I am out of that picture. I like to do small projects and student films and some documentary and music video. I'm happy with that.

This is pic of the Black Hawk from Varizoom. I did not get to try this model because of them telling me that they did not have the right camera to go along with it or something to that nature... They give me another smaller rig to try which I did not like at all. The one I tried did not perform well. In fact after 10 secs, I put the rig down. The arm/vest stud/connector was in the center, like the Steadicam mini was a very long long time ago. I hate this position. It places such an obstruction between the arm and the vest and makes operating awkward. Maybe it is just me but that's my feeling. Another issue, pointed at manufacturers coming to trade shows - PREPARE FOR GOD sakes!!!!. what is the point of having a rig sitting on a maniqin if potential buyers cannot try it on. Well, I did not like the lower class arm and vest and I'm sure not going to like the Black Hawk.

I have seen that bracket and to be honest, i dont see why people want to use that hughe bracket. Also, i am pretty sure that using a motor on that bracket will flex the rods to much and the motor looses contact with the lens. Its made of plastic and it bends to much imho
