Labrynthitis
« on: May 06, 2009, 05:17:50 PM »

WOW, I thought I was going to have a heart attack a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been to a doctor in all 37 years of my life but that all changed when this happened to me. It actually started out when I was at work walking down the hallway, all of a sudden I felt like I was going to pass out, then I felt dizzy pretty much for 2 days I felt this way. I first thought it was low blood sugar so I tried to stop it with some candy. Didn't work. Then I went to drive to pick up my daughter from dance and I almost passed out driving. My wife had to drive and told me I was going to see a doctor the next day. I said ok. That night at around 11:00 I thought I was going to die, I felt like I
wasn't even in my own body. I was dizzy and feeling really bad so I had my wife take me to the emergency room. They took blood, did a cat scan and then told me there was physically nothing wrong with me and my heart and brain. I was diagnosed with Labrynthitis. I won't explain it in detail, but it has to do with your inner ear and a virus that caused it to get out of wack. They gave me some motion sickness pills and sent me home. When we went to leave they took the IV out of me and my daughter watched them do it. Then she said "Oh my, I need to get out of here I don't feel so good". I knew what was coming next so I told her to just sit down so she wouldn't pass out but being the 14 year old genius, she said she was fine. As we walked out of the room, she spun around and fell down and banged her head on the wall. Luckily her head just hit the wall and not the floor. Everything ended up being ok, she had just passed out and we went home. For the next 2 weeks I couldn't hardly do anything with out feeling like I was passing out. It finally went away a couple of days ago. I couldn't believe how bad it got but I found out it's a pretty common thing and most people end up throwing up because it gives you vertigo. Just thought I'd share that with you all. thanks for reading.

Never heard of labyrinthitis, but I felt like that for a few weeks after being concussed and losing a lot of blood in a motorbike accident several years ago.

Hope it clears up soon.

Strange. I had my right ear "clogged", or so I felt, for the last 3 days. I also had the vertigo stuff and I thought some thing's wrong inside my head. The doctor said there's nothing inside my ear and that it must be the Eustachian tube. An inflammation. So she gave me some anti allergy pills, some pills for inflammations and something for the vertigo...
Today I'm finally ok Smiley

Thanks all, it was a little scary but I feel normal again. Martin, they asked me if I had had a recent head injury so that must have been the reason you experienced what I did. Also glad your ok Cosmin. Wink
