Alternative Battery Option for LCD Monitor
« on: October 15, 2008, 01:53:10 PM »

I did some testing with two NiMH batteries (8.4v 2200mAH & 9.6v 3300mAH) to power my 7" LCD. They are typically used for R/C cars or Airsoft guns. The 8.4v ran my monitor for 3 hours and the 9.6v ran for 4 hours. These batteries are very light weight, inexpensive and readily available. This may be a very viable option for powering your LCD. You can buy individual cells and build a custom battery; the cells come in a various sizes: C, sub-C, N, AA, AAA. Or you can buy complete batteries in 7.2v, 8.4v, 9.6v, 10.8v & 12v Capacity varies 800mAH ~ 5000mAH.
