Classic poster of Steve Martin and the Panaglide--now available for reprint!
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:53:15 PM »

Hi folks, I posted this over at the Steadicam Forum but thought you guys might like this too.

Wa-a-a-ay back I posted a rough scan of the rare poster from "The Jerk" with Steve Martin wearing a Panaglide and holding a cream pie. I had only seen it once when I was in college and had never been able to find it again; I had actually come to believe that I had dreamed it up in an *ahem* induced daze. Then I finally found it on eBay and posted it here [Steadicam forum]. Shortly thereafter I had the original properly scanned and never got around to doing anything with it. And then I had Steve sign the original, and that went in the closet too.

Well, I recently came across the disc with the good scan in it (dated 2002, ugh) and realized it should see the light of day. So I have put it up on Shutterfly, where you guys and gals can order reproductions to your heart's content.

I cleaned it up and created seven versions with different combinations of copy and autograph so you can pick whichever you like, and best suits the dimensions of the size you choose. The maximum size is a 20x30 poster which looks beautiful.

Yes, I know this is a copyrighted image, but it's 30 years old and really obscure, it's not for sale anywhere as far as I can tell, and I'm not making anything off it. If someone from Universal orders me to take it down, I'll take it down and that will be that.

Shutterfly requires you to sign up for a free account if you don't have one. And they ship internationally.

Thanks CP. I saw this about 10 years ago. Really funny. I will be making an order. Thanks again.

Not quite 10 years but getting there! I got it from eBay in 2001, pretty sure no-one else had posted it before that.

Well, either I imagined it or I did see it before 2001...oh well, a cool photo none the least.

I was looking on eBay on a casual basis for a pretty long time for a glimpse of that poster before it showed up, that's when I was starting to think I had hallucinated it back in'84...it was nearly shocking when I did come across it. Prior to eBay's existence I had made the rounds of the local poster/memorabilia shops and no-one had any idea of what I was talking about. It was a two page glossy foldout in a large-format magazine, possibly Rolling Stone but had never been released as an actual poster for theatrical use.
