Hey everybody. I've been pretty quiet on here lately. And, sadly, I think it may stay that way for a little. My rig is as done as it will be for a while, and I'm going to focus on operating in my projects as I start my first semester here at college.
But, although I'm having a wonderful time, getting to play with all of the new cameras, lighting kits, and even comparing up my rig to the school's Magiqcam rig, I'm realizing one thing: living without a workshop is really difficult.
For the past few years, I've always had a pretty complete shop, and a car to drive around, and a full set of all of the tools I could need to build and improve and fix my gear. But, here, I have my Leatherman, some screwdrivers, my soldering iron, a bottle of superglue, and not too much else. And, my school doesn't have any engineering, machining, or mechanical courses, so I can't find any equipment on campus. Although to a certain extent it'll be nice to not be tempted to tear apart my rig day to day and upgrade it, It's a little worrying to think that if something goes wrong, I'm going to have to go find a machine shop in the area to fix it for me.
Looks like I need to start looking through the yellow pages.
