I've been on here a few weeks just (TRYING) to read through the excess amounts of information this site has to offer. Shame to say with my short attention span, i didn't get very far. ;-P
films struggle to get made in the area where i live. that's why i write/direct/produce my own stuff. Ever since the shinning I've loved Steadicam and fluid motion of shots they can offer. I'm looking into getting a Steadicam for both my films +to offer other film makers in the area a solution over dolly/tracks.
One of my films that I'm producing to make next year. I had planned on using dolly/tracks but since location scouts there's no other choice except Steadicam. I ideally wanted to make a bit of money first so i could splash out on getting all the parts machined. Anyway, i blabber on far too much. (I've been told).
I'm hopefully looking to build a Steadicam for pro/consumer dv cameras. We had a rig-at our university last year-that was used for digi-betacam equipment-rather out of my league.
I can fabricate things for cars etc. i have all the tools in my garage...but I'm not too sure if that helps me with this project? I will be buying the book at some point, but i wanna know if i can make it all. I hate relying on people to help because a)they cost money B) they aren't always reliable!
P.s sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes. I know I'm suppose to be "English" but i can't concentrate long enough to see where the problems are
Welcome Andrew. Glad you became a member. You mentioned buying THE book, I assume you mean Cody's rig. Well, it all depends on how cheap of a quality you are determine to lose for the depth of your wallet.
Thanks for the welcome. Yes, Cody's book. It'll come down to value for money. I've seen small rigs on fleabay that range from 500=4000 UK pounds. I'd rather build something so i know what i've got-yet if the cost of building something is more than buying. it seems pointless. I'm saving my money now. So, we'll see. Thanks again.
