I haven't been very long but I'm impressed by the enthusiasm and the inventfulness of those who are building there own with little "real" equipment . Also I love the sharing of ideas which I enjoy giving to share to as it might be useful to anyone to expand upon. Also love the mix of professionals and newbees! Also like that Charles is good at making sure the info is put in proper forums ,it makes it alittle easier to do research in finding designs that can influence my design. I'm kind of an outside the box kinda guy when I design my stuff.

I think most of us are Jim. Appreciate your input.

I'm new to this site, but I signed up to the forum to share my Glidecam mod. The images on the main site are incredibly helpful when I decided to try building my own rig. Now I'm focusing on modifying the rig I bought, and the forum is great for that as well!

1. Which members have influence your stay here on HBS?
2. What you like most about HBS?
3. What systems do you come to see more often when you visit both the HBS Website & Forums?
Please be sincere and honest. Thank you.
Well I'm still very new to all this but I have to say that since stumbling on this site I decided to immediately not bother saving up for a high grade system and go straight in with a cheap one and modify extensively in order to get practicing sooner rather than later AND still get the pleasure of having a custom rig that flies. I never even knew you could build your own rig. I mean I suppose I knew that where there is a will there is a way BUT its such high grade kit that the idea of tackling one yourself is something that you just never really normally consider. This site changed that perspective immediately! I have to say that I enjoy reading absolutely everybodies comments on here BUT if Im forced to name a few as paradigms of the craft then I would have to say Charles King, Charles Papert and Andreas Kleiber....and strangely enough its these guys whose gear I sit there in the small hours staring at! Vladimir Korshunov is ALWAYS ready with a helpful opinion as well and I think its one of the things I like the most about the forum. Even if its only a couple of words, when a question is posted there are always people willing to answer and help, there seems to be a real pride in the forum members achievements in their own work and a strong sense of community, at least amongst the prolific posters I think that will do. Here endeth the lecture! Take care and Merry Xmas all (Charles have you considered a Father Christmas emoticon?) L

Mmmm.. A father Christmas? Not really. First i have to know where to get them and then figure out how to add it to the list of others on the forum.

Vladimir Ill stand as your second for the King and I second the motion for Phil...although (and we will have to run this by Charles) I do think that finding a Phil Kindred emoticon may be a little bit above and beyond....unless of course you have one tucked away somewhere Phil? Cheers Lee

1. Which members have influence your stay here on HBS? I would have to say everyone who has shared their ideas and thoughts. I just find it inspiring to see the many ideas that each and everyone one of you guys have that influence how ones rig is made. Seeing the many plans come in to play. Another thing that influences my stay here on the forum is how generous and helpful everyone is to each other. Its just fantastic to see the many different and unique ideas and theories and opinions generate in a single post.
2. What you like most about HBS? That everyone here is helpful and willing to offer their thoughts and opinions on steadicam rigs and other devices. Though I haven't made any posts as of this day, I plan (when money is not an issue) to raid my town for parts and start building and taking photographs to upload here.
3. What systems do you come to see more often when you visit both the HBS Website & Forums? More so the HBS website. I cannot really mention particular systems because I always have my finger on the command button and am clickin' on every individual rig to check out and compare (For those of you who don't know... On a Mac, that opens a new tab in your browser...). Yeah!
I have to say its just inspiring to see everyone's take on the steadicam and even the jib cranes and the dollies. So its not so much members that keep me on this website, but the inspiration gained by seeing all of your rigs and the making of them and even the footage taken using them.
Keep it up, dudes!
