High in the mountains of NC.
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:16:59 PM »

I'm an odd-ball-leftwing-retired computer programer with some background in "classical" music composition. I worked as a sound technician for small film companies in the South in the 1960s  (that was my day job). The "high point" of that career was being sound effects and Foley artist for "Decompression Sickness in Flight"  If you  flew for the  US Air Aorce during the Vietnam war you saw that film.

I just got my first camera, a Canon HV30 (please, feel free to laugh), and am planing to do some instructional videos on quilting with the Mrs. for starters. So far I've built an NLE and an articulated boom which you can see at:

http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=12021
(not much of a much but I need it)

My next DIY projects are to be a handheld gimbaled steadicam and then a full rig. I bought Cody's book and have been reading it.

Ummmmm .... so?

(BTW thanks for letting me in, I do already have some questions to ask when seems appropriate.)

Welcome Robert. Glad you decided to join. Much apprecited. Seem to be registrating about averaging 4-5 persons a day and it keeps going up. Smiley Well, you've come to the right place and hopefully we the group will be able to fulfil your dreams. Smiley I think you have to register first on that link you posted to see the pics. I'll do that or you can also upload the pics in the appropiate forum here on hbs. THanks again and hope your stay here will be a fruitful one.

BTW, may I ask how you found HBS?

BTW, may I ask how you found HBS?

Google search for:

homemade steadicam

...came up on the first page of hits.

I apologize for the bad link.  I just checked it and it still works for me so it must be a protection problem.  Sad   I'll post the pics.

The links are good but you have to be a member on their board in order to see the pics. Thanks for letting me know about the search. Well, it seems google still makes us the no.1 hit for such subject matter. A big plus.
