that is what I said in your post youposted somewhere else. This is usually the probelm with these low brand names. The gimbal unit as to be 99.9% aligned or else you will have a lot of problems when it comes to balancing.

This thread is traveling around. Smiley

I might give $400 for one of these but the sad thing is people are paying a thousand + shipping for one, and as long as they are, then he will continue to get that for them.

But then again some pay more for bottled water than gasoline.

well i paid 1117 usd incl. shipping for it, and i think that it's quite a good price, since the vest and the arm are very well made...

the post itself is quite nice too, the gimbal itself looks very solid, the sled is nice, the gimbal seems very good, but the yoke is completely off which makes it unusable at the moment

but i am confident that if i replace the yoke, i will have a nice system which is very usable...
since i have no time or ressources to build a stabilizer myself, and the glidecam system which is comparable costs about 5 times more and has problems with it's gimbal as well, it's quite a deal for me in the end, if i work the problems out Wink

so if you don't have the ressources for building one yourself you could get that as a starting point and invest a few hundred dollars to get a very usable system...

I agree that the unit is worth the money. It's not perfect but for the price it will permit me to do shots I only dreamed of.
The way to look at it is that for me to get an operator and unit for a day costs more than I have paid for the unit.
Not to mention the fact that like every cameraman out there I have always dreamed of learning to use one.  Grin
It's a good start and as time and money permits I will expand the unit.

I see a fellow gave them a negative feedback saying the aluminum was not anodized.

Well if the black is flaking off, then its not anodize.

Just received one from the India guy - Review eminent
« Reply #54 on: December 15, 2007, 02:42:49 PM »

Was following these reviews of the Magic Fly Cam vest kit.

I just got it in, but haven't found the time to assemble it yet.

When I do, I'll try to put up a comprehesive review of my findings.

One thing I did notice is that the packaging was rather scant.
Parts were put into a box naked, where each part's edge (even thought parts may have been bubble rapped in general), the edges still bored their way against the main box.
If any of the items were banged in shipping, then could result in defects.

Its been sitting in my garage, and the only thing I tried on was the vest. It fit me, but
the plastic quickrelease clips, as noted in earlier posts, are easily de-snapped.

Haven't opened the other pieces, given the problems you guys are having,
I'd better get to it in case I need to return something.

IN any case, I have some potential business taping some live dance performances,
and, even though the unit might not work perfect, as long as I get it assembled,
and it will hold the camera, I suppose I could just use it to hold my darn
camera - will it at least do that?

MOre to follow.

Are there any reviews from this new arm, look kind of cool? $1500 is pretty inexpensive.
