Hi,
my name is Benjamin Goetzky.
I'm from germany, living aprox. 60 miles away from Frankfurt/Main. I found HBS in search for informations about antlers for my built-from-scratch stabilizer rig, which undergoes the last calibration tests at the moment. I'm working in the moviebusiness for quite some time, starting as modelmaker and model & miniature supervisor for the german Sci-Fi movie "Nydenion". Today I am producer, DOP and Unit manager for N2U-Productions, a small movie company with homebase here in Marburg (Hesse). We have already produced a short-movie (Uebergabe, 14 min. 2006) and did some cinema commercials. Our last job was a musicvideo, which we finished some weeks ago. Besides my work for N2U-Productions I worked as Unit manager for mtv-music-video productions in the past, too. I started experimenting with some self made Glidecam-style stabilizers, for one of our projects, very fast recognizing that it did not produced the results I was hoping for. So I began constructing my complete rig one year ago. It is designed to fly my Sony VX2000E. After a lot of satbacks, the cam began to fly in a satisfying way some weeks ago, after improving the sled and changing the springs several times. I'm still fighting with some minor tilts, but I'm very confident to erase them, too!
It's absolutely amazing finding out how many other people are out there working with their own homebuilt systems. Hope to get some suggestions and ideas in here how to improve my rig.
with kindest regards
Ben
