Earlier this month, fellow HBS member Brad Jefferson and his friend Bob met me in Boulder, at the University of Colorado campus. I brought my rig for Brad to try out. It was his first time putting on a rig, and I must say he took to it quite naturally! Just look at that form. Look at that posture! With his permission, I'm posting some pictures and the clip he shot (no audio, my mistake). There are some great moments. I was so proud! Brad, great meeting you. Video clip

Alan,
I was thrilled to meet another HBSer. I was very impressed by your homebuilt steadicam rig and enjoyed giving it a whirl around the campus.
Thanks for posting the footage, but I must admit that I need quite a bit more work at it. For the first time wearing a rig like this, I really enjoyed the experience and now appreciate what it takes to "ride" a steadicam.
I hope to meet you again. It was a blast!
Brad

Hi guys. Just saw the clip. Great to see you guys having a great time together. Yep, it ain't easy trying to operate. Although I noticed a lot of swaying and feet work that got transfered through the lens I did notice that that stabilizer is also pretty well built. I didn't notice any jitters or aggressive shocks due to a badly made arm or gimbal. I must I'm impress Alan. Nicely done. Brad, I proud you got to test it out and hopes this gives you more encouragement to continue.

Looks like you had fun. I'm not as tough as you guys. Walking around with snow on the ground in a t-shirt? I'm still wearing thermal underwear when it's below 60 degrees. I'm not sure where your located in Virginia Brad, but I live in the Hampton Roads area if you ever want to get together. My rig is finally built, but has a few bugs that need to be worked out.

A meet like this would be great for HBS. We've been talking about something like this a very long time ago. The problem is finding the right moment where everyone can fit it into their schedule

Mike: I am in the Washington D.C. area. Joe Sanders, who is also on this forum, is 30 minutes away. There are people in Philadelphia area. Getting together would be challenging because of my kids time constraints on weekends. But, it could work.

The problem is finding the right moment where everyone can fit it into their schedule It would be interesting to see a list of HBS people and what part of the world they live in. Maybe this is a simple dump from your online user profile db.
