LCD4Video 7" monitor = $160
« on: June 27, 2007, 04:59:17 PM »

I just bought this monitor from  http://www.lcd4video.com for $160, and it seems to be pretty decent so far. Maybe some of you have seen it on eBay already, or maybe you've even discussed it in another thread. But I didn't see it, so here it is for discussion.

Disclaimer: I'm really new at this stuff, so I have no idea how it differs from the expensive "pro" monitors, but it sure works well for me.

I did buy a Bescor battery belt to power it, but now I want to buy a battery that will be attached to the sled. I'm probably going to buy the Li-Ion batteries that Phil Kindred recommends in the battery forum. ($10 each! plus $17 s&h on ebay).

For what it's worth....

Did you get that shade?  What is it made of?  I'm still looking for one I like. Smiley

Phil

Didn't you make one from a pot pie tin? Or something like that.

I don't know why, but I don't like Hoodman.  Maybe I should look again.  Chuck--just for fun, I made one from a microwave dinner tray, but it wasn't quite right.  Maybe I should try the deluxe dinners. Grin

That's what it was.
The deluxe dinner sounds good. Mayby they could use it for that TV show "Movie and a Dinner"

I bought the Office Depot shade: a large sheet of black cardboard.  Cool

Although that part above is true, I never went through constructing it. Instead, I bought the Varizoom shade from B&H ($20). It was a little small, since my monitor has a 6" screen instead of 5.6", so I just cut off the bottom and added some new velcro attachments.

Does it work? Well, I need to quit being lazy and actually go SHOOT something someday soon to find out.  Sad  I'll let ya know!

Drew, now that you have used it awhile, what are your impressions of the monitor?  I am considering on going that route and any feedback will be appreciated.
