Need help converting reel to WMV
« on: December 06, 2006, 01:24:27 AM »

I have a reel of mostly HD stuff that I need to convert to WMV. I have Final Cut Studio, so I'm typically running my reel through Compressor to get an H.264-encoded Quicktime movie, but not everyone can play them.

Does anyone have a video encoder that can spit out the latest WMV codec? I would really appreciate some help with this. Not sure what I could offer in return, but I'd be very grateful.

Flip4Mac you'll find here

http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm

They have different Products for different needs.

Perhaps this tool also will do the conversion:

VLC can open and play a lot of mediafiles and also transcoding them. AFAIK including WMV.
Have a look:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

Finally its free under the GNU licence.

Yep, VLC is great, but some people just don't know about it. I've seen Flip4Mac, I was just hesitant to spend $179 to convert my reel. I suppose it is a cost of business, and I should just suck it up. Then I can make changes and tweak endlessly without annoying someone else!

Thanks, guys.

Cleaner is a great product to use.  You can convert to pretty much any codec under the windows or quickime architectures.  If you're using it for buiness then go ahead and buy it but for everyone else...just go to demonoid.com or torrentspy.com and download the thing for free  Smiley
