The batteries on my rig in the Full Rigs section are Rigid drill batteries. They worked pretty well, but I now use a different set up of 3 flat 12v batteries. Check the pics in Members Systems. They are much lighter.

Phil, what was the cost outlay on those three batteries and what type were they?

They are 12V Li-Ion batteries. I don't remeber the price, but they were dirt cheap on E-Bay. Do a search for DVD player batteries or 12V Li-Ion. They come from Hong Kong and are still available. I may be wrong, but I think the 3 were under $30.

They are 1800ma lasting 2 to 3 hours per charge. 9.99 each. On E-bay, do 12v li-ion search and it will take you straight to them. Each comes with a charger. There other more expensive ones that have discharge meter on them--I believe Alan has one, but I like these. Stacked in 3's they give a lot of time. Plus, they have an on off switch so the battery is not always on. The shipping costs are actually more than the battery!

That's it. I ordered from Hong Kong and no problems. Arrived within 10 days.

Did you need 3 of them or is that just to get extra time with the monitor?

I use 3 for the time and for the weight on the sled bottom. They are very light, so 3 gives me some mass.

Ok, so one would be enough - if I go that route. I wonder if there is a price break on buying three at the same time?

I believe the 3 came to about $64 with shipping.

That really isn't a bad deal. Thanks for that Phil, much appreciated.

Hey Phil, have you reached the 600 times recharge limit on those batteries? I was looking at Ebay and the specs and it says it can be recharged 600 times. Thoughts?

I just had an issue with one of my 3 batteries of this type. Suddenly, it won't charge, when plugged into the charger it claims it's "charged" but then when I plug it into a monitor, it won't power up, and the light on the battery gets dim almost instantly. I'm going to give it a few more charge cycles at this point. I took it apart, and it's very simple inside, only a switch and a jack and 3 cells - no circuitry or anything. So, hopefully a new charge will bring it back to life.
So, how is everybody else doing with these batteries? My other two are great, but this one looks like it might be a goner.
