I own my own multimedia company.  My trademark is the production of videographic therapies for people who are transitioning into nursing homes and for children who are hospitalized with serious illness or injury.  http://www.carpemultimedia.com.

The main draw of this group to me was Andreas Kielb's rig that I saw on the steadicam side.  Holy smokes that's nice!  I'm desperately hoping that this is an opportunity to share schematics and specifics and not just finished products.  Anywho - it's nice that something like this is out here - I appreciate spending my time somewhere other than ebay or email every once and again.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to HBS.  Interesting company you have.  It must feel good to be able to help people and enjoy your work.  Good luck on building a stabilizer.   Smiley

Mike,

Thank you!  I'm hoping that adding a stabilizer and the ability to fly through peoples' residences with a bit more fluidity will help do justice to their experiences there.  I really like Andreas Kielb's rig, to be sure, but the idea of so many people innovating to make something work is just very cool to me.  Have you made one yet?

Chris,

I'd say that I'm about 60 - 70% done with mine.  It's taken me about 3 months.  I only need to get the female socket block & spring plugs/pulleys machined, bones bored for bearings and a little work left for the gimbal handle.  A little more on the vest as well.  The only thing that has saved me is old co-workers who are machinists.  I feel like it will still be a work in progress to try and make it better.

It should be a great asset for your business.  I make slideshow DVDs as well, but it's just to make my family laugh and cry.  You may have people that have old 8mm/super8 film that was never transferred.  I started a post that had a link to how to build your own telecine transfer unit.  Not sure if you are interested, but may give you some extra business.  Good luck and keep learning here in the HBS classroom.
