Full Metal Dream
« on: August 11, 2006, 10:10:08 PM »

I had a dream last night that I was shooting Full Metal Jacket. We were doing the scene of the trainees running around Parris Island, and R. Lee Ermey with the "I don't know but I've been told ..."

I was running and shooting DJ with my rig, but we were running through narrow alleys, not on the open street. Ermey kept on goofing around and running past the camera, and I was trying to keep up! Doing a hard mount never crossed my mind, apparently.

At one point, I discovered that the arm on my rig was gone, and I was just holding up the sled by hand. This made things more difficult, and I was worried about blowing the shot. Stanley Kubrick was nowhere to be found.

Yikes.  But I have  had a few like that.  My Grandfather used to work for Douglas Fairbanks in the 20's  and my best friend in high school Grandfather worked for Buster Keaton.  Pre-steadicam days obviously.  They told me their employers were good men, unlike some these days.
