Car Mount anywhere??
« on: June 14, 2006, 10:50:55 PM »

Hi there,

Any idea if there are any homemade car mounts??
I've looked at some options for sale on eBay, but the ones they have there right now for about $100, you cant mount to the side door.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

haha back again couple years ago I did the same thing. That guy used suction cups. that are used to hold and carry window panes. they have a quick detach function. anyway I bought a single suction cup and tried it. I would nto recommend using it on the outside of the car. unless you do the following.

1. wash the area very well. dirt and grease will make the suction poor
2. tether your camera very very well.

this is what I am using now. it is a triple suction cup plate. holds lots of weight. and doesnt have the quick release feature. which I think is not necessary.

however i must add that while my triple suction cup works for my digital 8 I think it is pushing the limits of weight. Do not try to use these while driving fast and more importantly turing fast. learn from my experience. this is why you should tether anything expensive. dont trust your $1k+ camera and equipment to a cheap suction cup.

Has it worked well for you. I would be very hesitate to put my $5000 camera on just a device.

are you refering to my setup? cause as i said, I wouldnt trust such an expesive camera on them either.

here is another solution. not sure what the quality is though. im not too familar with how many line of resolution your $5k cameras are. but i doubt this is hires but anyway try this out

it is a remote camera head. with 580 lines of resolution.

I found theses suction cups at a local Harbor Feight store. One of them looks like the one above and they only cost $6. I wish I could figure out how to attach the camera?!?

I know this thread is a little old but had to put my 2 cents in.

I use this system. Have used it in many a car chase and in helicopters.
Have even used them to secure lights in hard to get to places.

Overview about Magic Fly Cam kit?
« Reply #8 on: December 15, 2007, 02:34:47 PM »

Was following your review of the Magic Fly Cam vest kit. Curious to know if you have put up any other videos.

I just got it in, but haven't found the time to assemble it yet.

When I do, I'll try to put up a comprehesive review of my findings.

I noticed you found some defects regarding the bracket with play in the bold, etc.

How are things going now? Can you show us some video created using it?

Thanks.

Oh, BTW, it came with very scant packaging - I ordered it from the India guy dvcity... Shame, scant packaging is such an easy thing to correct and makes your customers feal good or bad about the purchase right from the get go.
