Need a little help understanding which arm is which
« on: March 17, 2006, 12:55:15 PM »

Cody has 2 books for sale ...1 a low budget.....can be built pretty much at home....and 1 medium budget....requiring extensive machining. In my reading through posts here....it appears to me that he has built 3 arms, one of which he described as having built with a drill press, hand grinder and bandsaw and some help from Elliot.....http://hbsboard.com/index.php/topic,256.msg2121.html#msg2121.
Is that arm the one that is crrently in the medium budget book???
Thanks
Mark

I think you will find the arm built with the tools you mentioned is the 'low budget' arm, Cody No 2 arm requires some engineering, and I believe the III arm is currently under testing.

The III arm is basically the Cody II arms with modifications for increased sled weights, including new spring configs, a re-machined elbow (minus the spacers), and more.....but the design is relatively similar to the Cody II arm.

Thanks guys! I was a little confused reading all the posts as some of them go on for months and I couldn't tell what arm folks were talking about.
