okay, here's my problem. i just got the plans in for the low budget system and i'm mega excited to get to work on it. now, before i do that, i need to address one problem. as i cannot afford to buy my own xl-2, or xl-1, i have to borrow them as i can. the problem is, when filming, i have one friend that has an xl-2 that i can occasionally borrow, and then i borrow an xl-1s from the local cable access studio. and then, possibly i might be able to borrow dvx100's from another cable stuido around here. would building an adjustable spring system be the answer to this? or perhaps weighing out each camera, then placing the bolt at different preset places? orrr simply buying a different set of springs for each camera? or my final option i can think of is to just find out wich camera is the heaviest, and then whenever i use a smaller one, just add weights to it?

Good question. Too bad I can't answer it I am in a similar boat. I will be using a beachtech for mic power when we are not recording audio separately. I will also be using a 35mm adapter on a DVX100 at times. The various set ups will change the weight around. Have you started building the rig? I just got done buying most all of the parts and will be starting in the next week.

Build your rig to the heaviest camera you will carry. Add weight when needed for other cameras, this way the rig will behave in the same fashion most times...
If you chance springs (or adjust them) the rig will feel and act different each time you make changes..

okay, thats what i think i'm going to do, because i'm going to build a rail system for all the cameras w/ a 35mm mini35 system that i am hoping i can adapt for each camera. so i will just add weight to it, and make it so i can slide the cameras around to acheive the right balance.
