Monitor help for a newbie
« on: June 03, 2007, 09:47:04 AM »

Hey guys,

I have a rather stupid question but I feel the need to ask it. how does one hook up a monitor to their camera? I only have a crappy digital 8 and mini dv. I dont think there is a video out when im shooting. only when I play back. Is there a way to hook up a monitor? or do I just have to get a better camera?

if you give me the type number of your camera i can check it, but normally you can just attach a monitor just like you would when you would view your recordings on a television set. Maybe it involves a little menu setting but normally you can just attach it.

I have two crappy little cameras, and it works like a charm with both of them

i have the DCR-HC20 camera from sony, looks quite the same. What you have to do, is open up the little compartiment at the right side of the lens (where you place your hand). There you have a half-circle sort of connection, here you insert the cable that was delivered with your camera (breakout cable to composite video and RCA audio. ) These you can connect to your television/monitor
