AAAAAAAAAH!!
I just didn an experiment involving a ruler, a spring and a scale, and I found that the pulling force of the spring is almost linear to the stretching lenght!!! (Obviously!!!)
I was so jazzed about finding a way to compensate for the non-linearity in the spring that I totally missed that the spring nonlinearity is really insignificant compared to the nonlinearity in the arm geometry itself.

I feel so stupid!!

You should read some of my post on that very subject.
Then look up the improved Cosmin spread sheets; I did a lot of work on that last year.
