Strada Hook & Release SteadiCam™ System
« on: February 12, 2006, 12:17:01 PM »

I was searching the web and found the Stada crane website (http://www.stradacranes.com/).

They have some pretty interesting cranes or other tools --- two of which:

The Only 100 Ft. Camera Crane in The World (see image golfcranesmall.jpg)

and the Strada Hook & Release SteadiCam™ System (see image stradcam2.gif)

Okay now, take a look at the second image:  How would you like to be the steadicam operator there?

Brad

Hey Joe,

Most of the cranes they have, have similarities to your crane, with support wires and such.

Do you think a 100 foot crane is in your future?

MayYbe 60 feet it would be one of less than 10 on the east coast.

I was thinking a while ago that it might be nice if your crane had an addition of a platform on the end for Steadicam shots. Maybe you could make a smaller crane for this purpose?

the demo of their Strada Hook & Release SteadiCam™ System  scares the hell out of me......

it just looks like a matter of time before that device kills someone...  i can see the hook partially catching,
lifting the operator, then coming loose and dropping the operator like a rag doll....

2cents....

Question on counter-balance:  How would you counter-balance this 100 foot (or even a 60 ft) crane?  From the picture, I don't see a counter weight.

Yeah, I'd be scared as hell of a system like that. Now the bucket/platform system sounds great to me.

All of the original Hollywood cranes had platforms; before remote heads.
