Hey friends, I'd like to ask for a favour. I've just finished up a video for a Gizmodo contest where the top entrant gets a brand new laptop. Could you guys take a look at my video, and vote for it if you like it? http://www.youtube.com/w/Laptop-Confidential?v=8ZxHeqGmuAwYou have to register to vote... sorry for the hassle. Thanks for your help! - Jon

Jon I voted you to win but where's the motion. Where's the rig work? Great script and production values. Would be great as a movie. Maybe you can do it again with camcorders. It had a film noir look that looked very professional. Best of luck! Michael

Thanks Trevor, it was fun to make. Good thing because there are over a 100 entries now (when I started the video, they had 3 submissions) so my odds of winning are pretty bad.
Michael, this one was all still shots so I couldn't do any motion. Actually, I don't really have access to a video camera at the moment so it was the best I could. Thanks for the vote of confidence of the script and P.V... we did our best with the short time we had to put it together!
Cheers!

Jon, Congratulations on your entry. Nice b&w photography. Some people talk about contests, but entering them is another thing. You accomplished your vision. I hope the judges appreciate the imagery and story like I did.
Did you have a time limit on the duration of the movie? It seemed to move pretty quickly. I heard the story, but I wanted to appreciate the imagery being shown that went with the script. While watching, I was imagining a music track in the background. Sound may add an interesting perspective to this piece.
Let us know how you do in this contest.
All the best, Brad

Brad: The film had to be no more than 60 seconds, so it was pretty rushed. I wanted to include music, but i had to have all copyrights, so I ended up leaving the track out. I think it would've been much nicer as a 1:30 second bit, but c'est la vie. Thank you very much.
Joe: Thank you, and you're right. It's so much better when there is an audience.

Jon,
I checked it out and voted. I like the stills. I checked out your web site as well. Great looking site and photos. Are you still in Kuala Lumpur? I have been there a few times. Anyway, good stuff.

Jon, for 60 seconds you did very well. Regarding music, I had tried some contests, but the stipulation was not to use copyrighted music. I wish I could play music. You are very creative using the still photography. That will put you in a different light with the judges. All the best!
