OK Trev,
You come here and finish this bar, and if you pay me real good money, I guess I'll do that video for you.

Trevor,

Is this video a private venture (going direct to DVD) or is this a Discovery Channel-like or HBO-like production?

I'm curious who the intended audience is.

Good luck.  You may make the phrase "sitting on the job" mean something totally different. Shocked

Hi Brad, direct to DVD, the lady is selling it to enhance her business..
We are working through music copyright issues and performing artists rights. and as to issues regarding 'ratings'

We have been involved in a few 'how to' productions, but this will be the most challenging.

We are working through music copyright issues ...

... We have been involved in a few 'how to' productions, but this will be the most challenging.
Have you checked out the royalty-free route.  There are several places you can purchase RF music. But, if you want music that is totally unique, then you will have to travel a different route.  (This is one area that you don't want to play any games.)

You are probably taking this job very seriously.  I'm sure that the person who is contracting you is very serious -- and the money she is paying is serious, too.  As you know, planning is everything.  Make sure you are able to understand what she wants out of this video:  tastefullness, quality, style, lighting, sound, truly instructional, whatever.  If she gets what she wants, then probably she'll be happy.  The problem is understanding her vision.

Good luck.

If I was involved with this project, I think the hardest part would be that I'm married and that my wife would have problems with me doing this.  Which is why I would need to take this seriously and stay very professional.

LAPM

Los Angeles Post Music

They have great music and a great program.  There music has bean on national networks, but they have a pricing program that is commensurate with the venue in which it will be used.

They have studio musicians that back up major acts, and the music is close to popular music but far enough away to be original.
