Martin, if you are referring to something that will enable you to power the monitor and transmitter, then the first will work great, the second, not so great.  If you notice, on the first one (not the generic brand) it had a little switch on the left side in the picture. This switch is for the secondary output (auxiliary). So if you are going to run a transmitter, this is a plus. I see no switch on the SWIT plate, so I question whether it has a secondary output, which you will need.

You will probably end up changing around the plate that comes in the first link, or ditching the metal plate all together and keeping the goldmount. $135 is kind of expensive.

Just double check with SWIT to make sure their plate has a power tap. If not, the unviversal plate Anton Bauer makes (QR-UNIV) has a power tap.

I am still a bit confused! Sad

I checked the QR-UNIV, unfortunately I can't find it selling anywhere in Europe online shops.

I also wrote to SWIT and asked them, if their plate has secondary output. If not, would it be such a big problem to modify the plate and power both transmitter and monitor?

I also found QR-GOLD plate, but I don't know if it has PowerTap output? Getting QR-GOLD in Europe would be no problem for me.

Thanks,
Martin

The QR-Gold does have a power tap, so I would go with the QR-Gold.

Here is another site for the same Lilliput monitor that Wade mentioned. It's cheaper here, but I have no experience or knowledge regarding the reputation of this seller.

That's where I'm buying my monitor. They're the Lilliput Authorized Dealer for EBay. I'd trust them (but don't blame me if they aren't a reputable place)

Wow, that's like $20 cheaper.  How much is their shipping?

I'd be a little concerned, though. mp3car.com (I believe) is based on the east coast of the U.S. somewhere. The company referred to in these recent posts is out of Hong Kong. With that in mind, what is there customer service like? How long will it take to ship to you from there?

I'm being a little paranoid, I guess, but I trust the American based distributor. Plus, it only took 3 days for my monitor to get to me.

Coming in a little late on this thread but I was wondering if anyone has a weight on the Lillput 7" monitor?  I haven't been able to find a weight listed anywhere on the net so far.

Sorry, I can't accurately weigh mine, as it has a mounting bracket and sun shade already attached (more or less permanently). My reading is a bit heavier than Mike's, just over 1lb, or 465g. It's the lightest thing on my rig.

The horizontal resolution on that first one is really high, too high. I wonder if they're counting the individual red, green, and blue subpixels. Doesn't 800 pixels of horizontal resolution sound more realistic? But if you can use it for accurate focus, then it would be great!

The second one is not 16:9, if that's a concern.

Yeah, have that 'dot' resolution, but I included the 'real' resolution in my description of it.  4:3 might be a problem.  Still haven't seen any cheap HD LCD 7inchers on the market.

Alan, Michael, thanks for the information.  It gets me a bit farther on my sled design.

Jon, by HD, do you mean something with around 1280 pixels of horizontal resolution, or higher?

Well, i'm not sure what you can output from the new lower end HD cameras; do they have a common 'hd' signal output?  I figure that If you're putting BNC/RCA out into your monitor, it won't matter if it's an HD or SD source in terms of what you see.
