Home Built Steadicam Merlin
« on: November 23, 2005, 08:58:07 AM »

Hi everyone,
I have researched these forums for some time and appreciate and admire many of you who have given your time and devotion to helping us make stabilizers, so I thank you all.

I have a question regarding the Steadicam Merlin. I am purchasing a Sony HDR-HC1 and after reviewing many convenient stabilizers, this seems to be the best fit for me. However, I would like to know if anyone has attempted to build their own, and if so can anyone walk me through the process? It seems that it would be fairly easy given the right direction, then again I could be greatly mistaken. Thank you everyone and God Bless you all.

Is it possible to take the accessories for purchase:

such as the spares listed, gimbal assembly, locating pin, mounting screw, and make my own Merlin system for under $150?
