« on: November 18, 2005, 06:21:55 AM »

Hi. I have seen on the ABA Film products the Floater 02 rig. Does anyone has tried or seen it "live".
Is a good product or not?

Saw it a couple of years ago and again at the IBC 2005 trade show and still don't like the design. I held the first arm they had( a while ago back in 2002) and it was very tight on the adjustments. It was Pascal and I who checked it out back then. We both had the same assement back then and maybe so today. I cannot comment on it's capabilty but maybe there are others who can comment.

Interesting... because judging only from the images, i like the design.  Did you know the price?

No sorry, I don't know the price. Don't worry Michele, it's a matter of personal taste. Another example is I don't like the Steadicam SK, simply for the design purpose let alone for some other reasons as well. So you see, certain things apeal differently to certain people. That's why we are all different. What I like you may not like. It doesn't mean the rig is crap. Smiley

Like  I've said, whenever you get a chance try it out.

i would never go with aba, it is basically the same like abc (another or maybe the same manufacturer from germany) forget the frontmounted vest. the backmounted might be ok. i has adjustability possibilities in the socket block.
baerbel told me that they asked him to design the backbounted vest, i am not shure if that is his design, i do not think so.

i think it is just not worth its price, i had a quotation on that and it was really expansive for ist ugly look. i think the best to go with is the v25 or the flyer, depending on the weight.

Greetings, Robert

Re: http://www.aba-film.de/produkte/floater.html

2 things I just don't get:

1) Why anodize in goofy colors?  Reflections are often a concern, why not just black?

2) Why blur out the guy's face?  Unless he is wanted for something...

Seems to me that they should offer their web site in English. It's kind of the commerce language all over the world.
