Underwater Camera Housing
« on: November 16, 2005, 05:28:56 AM »

Hi guys,
Im building a dolly and hand held stabiliser at the moment, I'll post pics when its finished.

The other thing Im interested in is building a water housing for one of my smaller camcorders (you know, the small horizontal £500 ones). I don't know if this is the right forum or right site for this but the level of technical proficiency on this site is very high. I bought a 'aquamarine' bag type housing a while back which was a huge waste of money as it wasnt robust and fogged up even with silicone bags inside. Theres gotta be an easier and more lasting home made alternative. Any ideas?

Cheers  Smiley

Fiberglass, with Plexiglas lenses.  Leave it out in the sun prier to sealing it the will reduce condensation.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think the aquamarine housing was designed for the caribbean or other sunnier shores not really for the freezing atlantic ocean! Ah well, gonna attempt to build my own soon, think my camera would like to be a bit warmer too! Cheers

If you’re gong to build it yourself, you might as well build in a heating system as well.
