Rifts on the HBS board!!!
« on: November 13, 2005, 08:21:04 PM »

Okay guys, I've been noticing alot of attitudes on this board and it's not looking good for our image. Sad I think everyone knows what I'm talking about. This site has two major purposes - To share ideas and help others in their endeavors. Regardless of how individuals may perceive the subject matter it must be taken in good and tolerable stride. Although it is hard at times but please remember there are people who visit this board and are not happy by what they read. Yes, complaints have rolled in from passer-bys who have noticed these small cheeky attitudes.

Now, I must say that people who try to help other people achieve their goals must always realize, that it might not always work 100% in their favor. It's totally up to the individual who is being helped to take the advice or reject it. In the same token the indivual who is being helped should try and heed those who have more experience in the field and respect their decisions regardless of the choice they choose.

When I started this forum it was known to be a place where everyone could come and share their experiences with others who share similiar ideas. Please let us continue that very essence of what this board was made to represent. Honour the etiquette of what this board was once.

Remember, we are here to help.

I apologize fully for all of the havoc that has ensued around things I've done, and I hope all of the others who have contributed to a general uneasy feeling around the board will apologize fully. This isn't a place to become angry, put people down, or overall create some bad vibes. It's a place to share ideas. If something's wrong, let that person know nicely. If someone doesn't take your advice, think of it this way, some people like to discover things on their own terms. That discovery for some of us is half the fun of building these things.

Alright everybody, I hope we can all just sit back, chill out, and build some incredible stuff. I know I will. Smiley

The forum has a casual style and it is easy to forget that this is not personal e-mail.  Over the years, there have been quite a few dust-ups and in a way that is healthy.  But it is in our best interests and  the site's to maintain an atmosphere of  "gentlemanly" conduct.   A passer-by or a pro visiting might wonder what is going on.  As one of the founding fathers of my country said "I disagree with everything you have said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."  That, gentleman, is called respect.

If my post/s created problems, or in any way cast dispersions on any member or non member, I sincerely apologize.

I hope I haven’t contributed to this. If so, it was certainly not my intension.

Sometimes I challenge Tom to make him think more. Challenging young people is one of my passions. Like the quote in my signature from one of my deceased mentors…

If we grow beyond ourselves wonderful things can happen.

Tom,
Take it from me; the way I meant it.

Hm ... I thought love meant saying you're sorry even though you know you're right. Ha!

I still havent seen any battles anywhere, dissagreement makes people come up with new and better ideas.
always say in most of my posts, thats my oppinion.wrong or right each one can decide.
What joe said is closer to my believes, challenging others specially young ones.
If someone got offended of my posts I apologise...a little bit....he he but Thats the way I always use to write posts with humor and sharpness. Wink

I'm starting to fish out some really snide remarks. Angry Is there a point? Do I need to be obvious? Com'on now. I've been fishing out some strange post and I can sense something strange with one individual here. No names but just to let you all know, IP addresses don't tell lies, so please keep those snide remarks in your pockets. Again, not mentioning any names unless I really have to get ballistic here.

Charles,

Are you talking about me? Please by all means get ballistic. I never stay where I'm not wanted.

You're wanted, Michael.  You have a lot of very good ideas and knowledge that the forum needs.  As my father used to say  "Sometimes a big wind gets you all worked up fighting it, but the wind dies down--you stay you." Smiley  Things get a little stormy here sometimes, but it passes and we all stay compatriots.  As it should be.
