Started this thread to see if there is interest in making a demo movie involving Stabilizer, Crane, Dolly or for that matter anything that can be home built.
I envisage shots showing the equipment being used and hopefully some footage from the equipment.
This could be on the theme of showing some of your local community (Tourist type of thing) we all get to see the gear then how it is used and then something of your area.
Could contain dialog as a support for your production, or graphics, or just left open for music...

That’s cool Trevor.
I was just thinking a few days ago about making a short little movie about 3 or 4 minutes. Where the camera would start on a stabilizer and move though places then carefully cut in with the crane and have the camera literally fly over objects like buildings. Then periodically cut to shots of the rig operator.
The idea is try to make it look like he’s the one doing the flying.
Sort of a Superman rig operator.
Thought it might be cool.

Count me "interested" (not necessarily worthy). I wonder if it would be worth the trouble to do two separate shows: one seen only through the eyes of the rigs, the other more of a making-of piece, where you can see the rigs in action.

What I envisaged was the gear being shown, used, and what comes from it..
It could make an interesting idea for HBS viewers, if enough interest, some short films could be made for the HBS website, so people could see the equipment and it's usage.
Please let's try to KISS, so the people of 'newer attributes' can participate.
Look like fun and a great Demo.

Maybe along the lines of a steadi being used to shoot a steadi being used, then closing on the shot, morphing into the POV shot taken from the steadi, this shot is now a shot of say a crane and the steady shot comes in close and morphs into the POV shot via the crane, the resolve is the crane shot closes in on a dolly and morphs into the POV shot from a dolly that is shooting a steadicam.
Wow, what a mouthfull

That's what I had pictured. I have a 20 ft crane, my own steadicam rig (from Cody's most recent plans) and another steadicam rig (also from Cody's new rig plans). I was going to start on a semi-wide shot of me and my rig. That shot (using the second rig) would circle me, winding up shooting over my shoulder into the monitor screen - dissolve to steadicam POV - I would then (using my rig) circle my crane a few times. On the last time I appear behind the crane and the steadicam shot comes to an OTS shot behind me, pointing into the monitor on the crane. The crane then goes up, circles around something( I haven't decided yet, possibly one of my friends in the steadicam rig). The crane swoops down into on OTS of the steadicam monitor again.
I'm still playing around with it. We'll see what actually happens.

I was thinking that a global training video would be nice. People could do the shots they do best, and actually teach about it as well.
As you all know by now, I am almost always promoting the educational aspect of this medium.
