just my 2 cents here.
Iam an op too.I havent fly either rigs, I mostly play with rentals,MK-V ,3a short of mix ups I also own a cruppy sk2
which I hardly use.
In the world of physics though a aheavier rig performs much better than light rigs.
Iam not going to analize that but Id go for the glidecam.
More options there biger range.
If job says the gimbal and arm are as good as the gold and he is happy its good enough for me.
Dont forget that experience is  the most important.
You will get very nice shots after some time and have more options.
Take care

i have not seen (the real thing) not to say fly any of the mention rigs. but from observation, i would go for the glidecam unit. i personally think it specs has better milage if we were to work in the open market as it can fly a wider range of camera capacity. in real life we do not have the privilege of choosing type of camera to work with, thus, flyer would have it limitation.

on the other hand, in some market, brand do carry some weight. as mention, this is just my observation.

Hi Job,

My understanding is V25 only is an arm model, not the whole rig. Am I right?

i have been reading  threw this post for a while now.
job, i think we met at the ibc05 at the glidecam booth.
nice to see you entered the hbs board!

i think the flyer and that sachtler rig (i´ve tried them both for several times) play in the same league. the flyer wins this competition and leaves the sachtler dv rig far beyond the flyer. the sachtler is even more expansive, tztztz...  Undecided

the only thing the v25 and the flyer/sachtler rig share is the price! the build quality of the glidecam is great, it has proper junction boxes a much better adjustability, a bigger (i prefer that) post diameter and a great arm, ok, here the flyer arm performs better but is NOT isoelastic and i cannot carry the weight of the v25 arm (which is also not isoelastic) . then the flyer arm comes with a special socket block; the v25 can (separately) be purchased with a proper standart socket block. so you can attach it to a walter klassen harness, hardmount or anything else with a standart socketblock. in my opinion this is a great advantage.

the v25 is something between the flyer and the archer but closer to the archer than to the flyer. this for the price of a flyer...

what i do not like about the v25 is the cheap looking gimbal whith the foam about the handle, but even the steadicam archer comes with the old gimbal version (but with the greatest arm i´ve ever flown   Shocked )

i would definately go for the v25 with a standart socketblock if i would like to spend 8k€.

greetings, robert
