Wow, i'm impressed how many people asking questions (pm) about this thread!

I will tell some of my experiences i had while shooting with my reflective backdrop.

As first I have to tell you that this setup is a dream to work with! It's lightweight and easy to set up. and hey, did you ever installed a perfect greenscreen background in a clients office in 10minutes? For working on the road this is a must have!

But I also have to say, that I prefer working in the studio my conventional greenscreen, which is built from thin wood and painted green. All is properly set up and all time ready.

news about 'the ring'
ok, first it hasn't to be a ring - when i was starting using a mattebox, my ring was to small. unfortunately I found this out 1h before a important shooting! so I had to improvise something very quickly. I found two 1ft green 12v led strips - I just taped it with gaffer tape above and below the mattebox and voilą it worked like a charm! the leds in this strips are smd-leds with an beam angle of about 130° - I can't understand all the manufacturers of the original rings that they using the normal 'spotty' angled leds. i could use one of these reflecmedia rings and i realised that they are less even lighted then mine, hmmm!!!

the 'key of success' - the backdrop!!!
i'm using 3m scotchlite 9910 reflective fabric. these material just work out of the box! it's expensive - but a loooooot less then the chromaflex or chromatte from reflecmedia. I'm using my portable backdrop (see the pictures at the beginning of this thread) since years now. folding, carrying, used in dirty sets, used in sunlight in wet cellars and I'm really shure it will do his job also underwater without any damages!
go to www.3m.com and look for your nearest dealer - I got, when I started building the backdrop some years ago, samples for free!

I hope this will help a bit! I'll look out for some more pictures in my 'making of' archive I'm sure I'll find some pics of my setups...

I wish you all good success wherever you wish it!

Dino

PS: I'm not related to 3m, they just made a superb job!
