I would like to say that cody's book is very good. I bought it to take the guess work out of researching all the components I need to build the book. I'm confused about a few things. Why did't cody include part number of the important items need to complete the project. If I follow all the specifications according do the book then why do I have to spend more time researching where to buy springs and bearings. When I was younger and I build something from a plan, it included where and part number as to where to find materials. Am I the only one how feels this way. A lot could go wrong if the right parts are not use and the book stats no claim for any errors in building. I could use a little more guidelines as to where to find buy the right springs not just you can find them on line. On line is a big place. Am I making any sense. 007

If you are referring to the new book, the part numbers for the springs are included as taken from Century Springs, which is where I bought them (CSC#259 or #76 - listed on page 4). Not only are the part numbers included, but so are the dimensions to the springs and the bearings, which are clearly stated as R4R5 bearings (p.3 and 4). We all do not shop at the same places, I can get my bearings from a local bearing shop. I give them the dimensions and they find me the bearing. I live in the United States. I do not know where the best place is to get bearings for someone who is living in Europe or England. I am sorry you have to do some research on your own to find these items. Cody

I also want to point out that if this question is referring to my first book, there is a supplier reference page on my website in the FAQ section that has a direct link to Century Springs, and it also lists the various spring part numbers used on the first arm from weakest to strongest. Yes, I probably should have made it more visible, but that is why I put it in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). I hope that helps. Cody

Really interested in purchasing cody's book. I've been surfing this site for a couple of weeks now and a lot of the people are very knowledgeable. I do have a couple of questions before i drop $80 though.
1. If i get cody's complete book "Building a stabilizer rig" are the components designed to be interchangeable with any of the brand name products available? 2. Is there cross reference information in the book? for example if i buy a progear gimbal will it slide onto the shaft that was constructed using the measurements from cody's book?
Thanks for your reply.

Nice to have you on board. I will try to answer your questions as best as possible. For the most part if you are wanting to use parts from another stabilizing system you might have to do some modifications in order for the parts to be compatible. That really depends on the part and the system you want to switch out the parts from.
As for the pro gear gimbal fitting the shaft of the sled as long as the gimbal is made for the 1.5" post diameter it should fit but there may be a slight difference in the gimbal machining. Meaning it may be more or less wiggle room.
Just realize you will need to do more research to find out which system is more compatible to Cody's system. Also don't forget the Group Ventures section of the forum, there are often members of the forum that can find a good deal on machinine work for gimbals and socket blocks from time to time. These are the most difficult pieces to machine. Good luck with your build.

You'll have to contact Cody himself as it is he who has made the payment method this way.
